Renewal and Promise

Was it just last month that snow blanketed our garden in Sutter Hill? Was it just last week that thunder storms dashed our tulips and flattened our pansies? Who could tell by the blue skies and sunshine this past weekend! Spring is here and winter is a past memory. Spring heralds more than just beautiful blooms, the beginning of planting season, or spring cleaning. It symbolizes a fresh start, a new beginning, a Do-Over for all of us. It brings hope, aspirations, and renewal, a new beginning.

During this most wonderful season is when Easter comes along. Easter is a holiday when most people think of the Easter bunny, decorating eggs, dressing up in your best Sunday outfit and going to church. Yet Easter is more than just another holiday to a Christian. It's the Sunday set aside to recognize the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a time for spiritual renewal, for great celebration and remembrance because our Lord Jesus rose from the grave thereby providing Salvation, and absolution for all sins--forever. Easter is Hope glorified. Death no longer conquers us. Jesus died and paid the price because He loves us.

So, be with someone you love this Easter; it is such a special time of year. My daughter Jennifer has invited us to her home for Easter Brunch. Therein is another miracle I will share with you one day; just know that if you have children and your relationship is less than perfect, perhaps even tragic, give it to God; He is in the business of miracles.
