There’s a new band in town, and you can check it out at AmadorArts’ Free First Friday Concert on March 2nd at Teresa’s Place Banquet Room in Jackson, CA. “The Sutter Hill Boys” number four and they play mostly originals that sound like the Eagles with a bit of Irish, Bluegrass and R&B, and Hawaiian. The fun starts at 6pm ending at 8pm. Enjoy Jonathan Lack on the fiddle, dobro, banjo and mandolin, he has been playing roots music in various bands; Gil Vanover on guitar. He brings a driving edge and sometimes screaming, sometimes haunting guitar solos to the present group; John Hoffman's affable personality on banjo, guitar, dobro, mandolin and bass; and Greg Gideon as lead singer and songwriter. His warm and personable voice is the main reason why people want to listen to the band. Remember, there’s no cover charge. Light food, such as pizza, salads and calzones, plus beverages, will be available for purchase in Teresa’s Banquet Room. Get a group of friends together and head to Teresa’s Place at 1235 Jackson Gate Rd., Jackson. According to AmadorArts, First Fridays are fun, relaxed and a great time to “just get up and dance.” If more information is needed, leave a message at (209) 223-9038. Be sure to visit www.amadorarts.org which is always updated with the latest information. AmadorArts, Amador County Arts Council. Hint as to the why these First Fridays are so popular -- you can hear and dance to great, free music at a reasonable time. No need to wait until 9pm like at most live music venues. Come with your friends.

Boyz Nite Out

No Instruments but Lots of Lip Service in Angels Camp at the Bret Harte Theater Boyz Nite Out is a five member pop acapella ensemble that will rock your socks off. They create sounds and music using only their voices and vocal reach. They specialize in cover, pop, and rockin’ high energy music. They will at the Bret Harte High School Theater on January 22, 2012, starting at 3pm. They are part of Calaveras Arts Council’s Ovations 2012 Performing Arts Series. BNO are Bill Craig, tenor and the swingman; Bud Anderson, tenor and the sound synthesizer; Mark Baldi, baritone and singer/middleman; John Moore, bass/horn and the groove-master; and Eugene Rocha, vocal percussion and human drum. They are singers, musical instruments, and nice guys too.

For over 15 years, Boyz Nite Out has rocked thousands with their high-energy thumpin' "pop/rock a cappella" -- featuring tight-locked harmonies, phat vocal bass, bumpin' vocal percussion, and incredible songs. They make music like no other by using their vocal skills to sound the drum, synthesize the sound, sing the songs, and to electrify audiences of all ages. They combine all vocal drums, guitars, and horns with smooth five-part harmony to make you think there’s an entire band on stage. BNO have shared the stage with singer songwriter Michael McDonald, Ray Charles, Jay Leno, Kool & the Gang, ELO, country recording artist, Kevin Sharp, and more.

They have traveled the world entertaining and amazing audiences by singing songs and playing the music of Spencer Davis Group’s "Gimme Some Lovin’," "Fire" and "Come Go With Me", the Doors’ "People are Strange" and to performing remarkable vocal percussion on Lennon/McCartney’s "Come Together". Adult tickets for Boyz Nite Out are $25 each and youth 17/younger are $10. www.calaverasarts.org
